Lumberyard Women’s Workshop

Introducing women to indoor bike parks is always so much fun. At first everyone is nervous about riding wood work, wondering what it will be like and what to expect. After a 3 hour class, the ladies are ripping around the flow lines and having a blast.

Originally Hillary Hutchens from the Lumberyard set Angi Weston and I up a Monday pm class that sold out within a couple of days. So we added a second Tuesday am class thinking most people would be off working but maybe a couple could make it out. Well that class sold out too. I was pretty impressed to find out 8 of the 12 were playing hookey to come ride with us. Yeah Ladies!

The rain was pouring as the ladies made their way to class. I must say it sure is nice not to get muddy, wet, and cold while riding. We started the classes with some skills drills in the basement then moved upstairs to apply techniques to the courses. We covered high speed cornering and berms, pumping rollers, proper braking, and skinnies. Some worked on jumping and drops too. Angi and I were super impressed with how fast the ladies learned and how supportive they were of each others learning. I’m looking forward to doing more coaching there, especially in the wet months.
